Digital culture and agile management (even if it’s difficult)

Thomas Reiner | 24.06.2019

Organizations of all industries and sizes around the world experiment with new ways of participation, leadership and organization. With the change from “must” to “allowed”, however, established companies and veteran employees are struggling.

Even in the printing industry, traditional companies tend to work from top to bottom, rather than focusing on empowering employees.

The characteristics of an agile organization of leadership are not so far removed from classic team structures!

The agile organization of leadership is characterized by explorative approaches, learning, self-regulation and self-organization. However, this does not happen “in the wild”, but within a clearly defined framework and clear objectives.

Agility is in this sense for

  • self-organization (clear roles)
  • iterative steps
  • common development and
  • Cross-divisional collaboration.

What may surprise you: these features are not that far from classic team structures! However, there is one important difference: The classic team leader in leadership responsibility is looked for in vain. It is replaced by the “moderator” and process owner.
